Starhawk

Starhawk is a third-person shooter video game released exclusively for the PlayStation 3 on May 8, 2012 in North America, May 10, 2012 in Japan and May 11, 2012 in Europe and Australia. It is the spiritual successor to 2007's Warhawk.

Starhawk Gameplay

The most notable change from Warhawk is the addition of a single-player story mode, which was intended to be included in Warhawk but was eventually removed. The gameplay is similar to Warhawk. A new system called "Build and Battle" allows players to build structures such as bunkers, defenses, and armories in the midst of battle, giving the game a real-time strategy (RTS) feel while remaining a third-person shooter. The game includes flying mechs called Hawks. A player respawns into a landing craft which they can steer with in a limited range to reach the battle field. Like Warhawk, there are 32-player online battles. Starhawk also has a co-operative mode similar in concept to the Horde Mode in the Gears of War franchise.

Reception
The reviews of the game have been positive, with IGN awarding the game a 9.0 from a possible 10 and Game Informer giving the game a 7.50. The multiplayer component of the game was highly praised and regarded by many reviewers as the 'best multiplayer on the PS3'. Criticisms were leveled at the game's weak story and uninteresting characters. The game currently holds a 77 score on Metacritic, indicating generally favorable reviews.
