THE SLEUTHSAYER
Just three issues ago in "Women of Fantasy 7," we printed a letter from
reader Rob S. of Greenville, South Carolina, who wrote: "I am one of your
older readers and although I enjoy the features on each and every lovely lady,
those on the older 'cult figures' really bring back memories. Along these lines,
I would very much like to see what sort of photos Sleuth can find of these legendatyglamour
girls." How about an entire issue, old boy?
Two 1996 feature films, Before and After and Now and Then—the former starring
Meryl Streep, the latter produced by Demi Moore—have capitalized on the
nostalgia boom to trace ladies' lives over time. Before and Afterwas called "impressive"
and "compelling" by one reviewer, "if the previews haven't misled
you into expecting a whodunit," while "the $30 Million Box Office Smash"
Now and Then's ad campaign teases: "That time has come." In Sleuth's
historic "Bare Are They Now?"...that time has come to see whodunit!
Our voyeurage down mammary lane owes its inspiration to the highly successful
Whatever Became of...? series of books in which author "Richard Lamparski
takes the most famous personalities of yesterday and today and updates them. Whatever
happened to," he asks on the cover, "Sheena of the Jungle?" fun-cover
our answer on page 56 inside}.
Lamparski's landmark editions spawned several imitators, including Patrick Agan's
What Ever Happened To—volumes, which asked: "Do you, like so many of
us, ever wonder what happened to your idols of yesterday—to the dazzling
beauties...whose photos cluttered your walls? What Happened To—transports
us back in memory to meet again the personalities who once shaped our dreams."
Or, in this case, their shapes...
Sleuth has managed to hunt up two dozen beauties from the recent and revered past...and
brought them into the present with pictorial presents you'll have to see to believe!
In nearly all cases, we've found exclusive nude photos taken BOTH then and now—undressed
updates on how little these lovelies have changed {especially when caught changing}.
The earlier Whatever Became of...?books were deemed to be "irresistible to
movie buffs," and we're sure these "Bare Are They Now?" beauties
IN THE BUFF will prove equally irresistible today!
