After some thirty years of Archie comic books, Archie’s publishers hit upon the idea of repackaging the Archies’ adventures in a series of digest magazines. These digests were smaller than a regular comic book in page size, but much thicker. They were often sold alongside supermarket check-out line pamphlets and TV Guides, and proved the perfect present to quiet any fretful children who had been forced to accompany their parents to the store.
Jughead with Archie Digest ran from July 1974 to May 2005, for a total of 200 issues. It concentrates a bit more on Archie’s best friend Jughead than on the rest of the Riverdale gang. Still, no Archie magazine would be complete without including Betty, Veronica, Archie, Reggie, Moose, and the rest of Jug’s friends.
