Country Details
dot
Scotland and its offshore islands are the northernmost part of the UK and occupy about 37% of the landmass. Called Caledonia by the Romans, and battled over for centuries, England and Scotland agreed to a permanent union in the "Act of Union" of 1707. Names like Mary, Queen of Scots, Robert Burns, and Sir Walter Scot spring from its historic past. As the home of "Golf" and with famous courses like Inverness and St. Andrews, and the natural beauty of Loch Lomond, Loch Katrine, and the numerous abbey ruins throughout the land, Scotland is a magnet for year round visitors
