Established within the Holy Roman Empire in 1719, Liechtenstein became a sovereign state in 1806. One of the world's smallest countries, it's closely associated with Switzerland for its defense. A strong industrialized land known as a tax haven for banks and investment companies, and also for the excellent skiing (December - March).
