Australia/Oceania
The Fiji Islands are some 3,000 miles southwest of Hawaii and 1,150 miles north of Auckland, New Zealand. The country includes two large islands and hundreds of smaller inlets. The capital city is Suva, the currency is the Fiji Dollar and the official language is English. Population exceeds 800,000.

The Republic of Fiji is one of the most self-reliant economies in the South Pacific. With a total land area exceeding 7,000 square miles, Fiji is wonderfully diverse, with a pleasing mix of culture, beautiful sandy beaches, coral reefs and some of the best climate conditions on the planet. Some call it home, many call it paradise.

Since the coups of 1987, the area has rebounded, and today, is one of the premier travel destinations in the world. Tourism is on the upswing, with visitors mainly arriving from Australia, New Zealand and the U.S. They come to relax in this aquatic playground and scuba diving heaven. After tourism, sugar is the second major industry, along with strong resources of gold and timber.
