Original Thirteen Colonies
Upon revolt with and from the British Crown, thirteen colonies become sovereign and independent states. The colony flag is shown at left. Note that the western borders of most colonies varied some from the modern-day state borders shown above, as to the west the British still controlled vast territories up to the Mississippi River. |
