After some thirty years of Archie comic books, Archie’s publishers hit upon the idea of repackaging the Archies’ adventures in a series of digest magazines. These digests were smaller than a regular comic book in page size, but much thicker. They were often sold alongside supermarket check-out line pamphlets and TV Guides, and proved the perfect present to quiet any fretful children who had been forced to accompany their parents to the store.
Jughead's Double Digest started publishing in October 1989. It concentrates a bit more on Archie’s best friend Jughead than on the rest of the Riverdale gang. Still, no Archie magazine would be complete without including Betty, Veronica, Archie, Reggie, Moose, and the rest of Jug’s friends.
